In 2009, I had the opportunity to develop two multi-user/interactive websites. I looked at various Content Management Systems (CMS) including WordPress and Joomla, but ended up installing Drupal 6.11 in mid 2009 based on its broader functionality and a better overall architecture. Unfortunately, Drupal 7 introduced breaking changes that made migration difficult and contributed modules that provided function on which websites relied had not been ported. Conflicting prerequisites also made migration challenging. I continued to run using Drupal 6 LTS support in the hope that the migration path would become easier, but that did not happen.
Since activity on the websites has dropped dramatically, my path forward is to make the Drupal sites static and explore a relaunch using Drupal 10 if there is clear interest from the user community. I am using this site to explore Drupal 10's capabilities starting from the beginning with a blog covering a range of technology and travel topics. I will add functionality over time which may affect website availability. Anyone can comment on blog posts - all comments will be reviewed by me, and my decisions are final.
